Second Half Creations was established as a way to promote my artwork. Below is a little information about me, Carolyn Langley.

Since an early age, I have been drawn to activities where I can create things with my hands. I enjoy drawing with colored pencil, painting watercolor, crafting, sewing, embroidery and taking photographs. Through the years, I have had many opportunities to use my skills in sewing and crafts, but retirement has allowed me to have time to really enjoy and improve my skills in painting and colored pencil. Having traveled internationally on many occasions, I especially enjoy painting scenes that I have photographed while traveling.

Through the years, I have taken art classes off and on at various community colleges. But it wasn’t until August of 2013, after retirement and encouragement from my husband, who has been nagging me for many years to paint, that I decided to take watercolor classes. After a year of classes, I began taking semi-private lessons with artist Ken Hobson. I have also taken classes and workshops with other artists including Kate Lagaly, Alexis Lavine, Susan Crouch, Anne Abgott, Kristy Klutch, Pauline Leopoldt, Cindy Evans, Melissa Nice, Arlene Weinstock, Arleen Steinburg, Ann Hightower-Patterson, Sterling Edwards, Jeremy Sams, David Nance, Dylan Scott Pierce, and Soon Y. Warren.

I enjoy teaching art to children. I teach classes as well as private and semi-private lessons at the Arts Council, the Burlington Artist League and at other local venues.  In addition, I am a volunteer leader for the Young Artist 4-H Arts and Crafts 4-H Club in Alamance County, NC.

I am a member of the Alamance Artisans Guild and the Burlington Artist League. I currently serve on the Board of Alamance Arts (my local Arts Council) and am the workshop coordinator for the Burlington Artists League. I am also a member of the NC Watercolor Society, the Colored Pencil Society of America and the Raleigh/Durham Chapter of the Colored Pencil Society.
